The French Gen AI tool, Mistral AI’s “Le Chat”, knows Tania well & describes her so:
“Tania Peitzker is a visionary thinker and advocate at the intersection of technology, ethics, and sustainability. With a background in philosophy and digital innovation, she explores how AI can foster civility and address climate challenges. Her work bridges academia, activism, and policy, inspiring action for a more just and sustainable future.”
Dr Peitzker lives near Berlin and has another home in Cannes on the French Riviera. She travels extensively around the European Union, the EFTA countries and the UK, for both work and play. She buycotts in favour of low carbon transport wherever possible: eco-fuelled ferries, ships, trains, subways, buses, trams, monorail and suspension railways, as well as sailboats, yachts, hybrid cars, and electric coaches for long distances.
Tania also advocates for staycations and long working sabbaticals in order to minimise long haul flights and reduce the carbon footprint of transportation. She is currently working on building eco housing and creating jobs in rural areas around the German capital.
Known as a European, "cyborg advocate" and an Australian-German, "hybrid intellectual", Tania Peitzker has been a writer since her early teens when she had short stories and a school column published by State and city newspapers. At university, Peitzker created an Australia-first classical music archive about and by women composers globally; she was regularly broadcasting her show "Why Not Women?” on behalf of the New York-based International League of Women Composers (the former ILWC) and the public radio station 4MBS in Brisbane.
Her first play "Life With Marion" - about women’s roles in society and mental health - received national funding and State arts grants, enjoying two sold out seasons at Metro Arts in the CBD and Cement Box Theatre on UQ's St Lucia campus. Her next big theatre success was winning the University of Melbourne's annual theatre award and writer's grant for her Chinese-Australian play "A Smedley of Revolution" set in postwar China and 19th century Australia. It was primarily about the American adventurer, journalist and highly regarded author, Agnes Smedley, who was also a political “Influencer” in India once based in Berlin, Germany.
As an emerging feminist researcher in interdisciplinary Cultural Studies and a Law student (she has a part LLB degree, part Arts / BA), Peitzker’s work was acquired in 1993 by the prestigious Fryer Library for its “archival collection about notable Queenslanders", held at the University of Queensland in Australia. As Tania recently told her LA-based talent management agency, "I did fame in reverse", because her academic and creative legacy was established in her youth, with the “Tania Peitzker Papers” being added to continually over the decades since.
After completing her PhD on a doctoral scholarship won from the University of Potsdam and the Brandenburg Government, Peitzker was then recruited by the Wall Street Journal Europe in Berlin and Brussels for a stint researching, interviewing and writing a supplement on business schools and MBA education in Europe. (She had won several international and national awards for her dissertation on the Australian writer Dymphna Cusack and was a freelance reporter or stringer for THES, part of The Times newspaper group).
Her WSJE engagement was largely due to her years long reporting as a foreign correspondent for The Times Higher Education Supplement in London - on knowledge transfer issues, innovation, tertiary education management, Government and sector policies and general technological news emanating from DACH universities and the United Nations in Geneva. She briefly worked for the Swiss broadcasting corporation in Bern before being mentored by a well-known Swiss hotelier and entrepreneur into becoming a businesswoman and publisher of an English-speaking newspaper (prototype).
