About my Mum's family tree in NSW and Victoria

As explained to my siblings in Australia - a selection of emails and notes

Sidney Stanley Marsh, known as Stan Marsh is our grandfather. He was married to Grandma, Lillie Marsh, nee Thornton. They had 1 child, Mum.

As far as I know, Edward Henry Carrington Marsh is Stan Marsh's Dad. That is what Grandma told me in the 80s and it is the family tree I drew up with her for a school project. I sent you that. Can scan it again but all the info from that tree I did with Oma and Grandma is now in the Ancestry.com tree. Including all the siblings that they both told me about.

The rest you will need to research on your own! Unless you can track down the relatives in Newcastle. I met some of them in the early 1990s. They lived on the Coast.

Grandma was at Wallsend. [A coal mining district or neighbourhood in the industrial harbour town of Newcastle]. Also her parents lived on Lake Macquarie. Mum told me about visiting her grandparents there.

On building our family trees in Australia, New Zealand (just discovered we have a great great grandmother from NZ! Lena May Condon's mother, was Grandma's grandmother).

There seems to be some common names and parents floating around. What are the chances there were 3x brothers? ie. Sidney Stanley Marsh seems to have taken the names from the (possible?) brothers of Edward Henry Carrington Marsh?

BTW Ancestry.com has find out loads more about our relatives!! I added more and it keeps dredging up all sorts of records. And finding the parents of parents etc

And I haven't yet added all the German research I have the Peitzker past farms in Prussia, Ohio and Texas ...

So I just rejoined the RSL Cairns club till end of December. Have summer special discounts till mid September that Derek and I can use! We're also going to the thermal springs near Raven show ... And the Cairns Festival 🎎 🥮

I have you all the history about Stan Marsh, our grandad, who fought the Japanese in PNG and SE Asia. He was trained to salvage and repair then fix crashed Spitfires (presumably in e jungle) and other aircraft. The Brits trained him in the UK.

FYI He wanted to get his pilot's licence in Australia but failed... Mostly "on temperament" according to the examiner. Sound familiar?!?!

Grandma was in the WAAF so the women's Auxiliary Airforce in Sydney. Her aunt, a Thornton from Victoria, was a radio operator. One of the first Australian women....

Just wanted to let you know that I'm back again as my mother Desley Pudniks nee Marsh passed on 16 June.

I did some more research in UK and American war records: Mum's grandfather Edward Henry Carrington Marsh was in the Royal (Australian) Navy, as well as other relatives of her Dad, Corporal Sidney Stanley Marsh.

Her mother's side, the Thorntons and Patersons, were also Australian service men and women. My grandma Lillie May Marsh nee Thornton was ex WAAF which am still researching. She is also buried at the Mt Sheridan crematorium.
